| The new BLONDIE cd is wretched! |

just a friendly warning to anyone thinking about buying it.
I never wanted to say those words. I love Blondie and have everything they've ever done. I thought their 1999 comeback album No Exit was the best reunion effort by a band ever.
But this one, titled, 'The Curse of Blondie' (I should have seen the title as a sign of bad things), is unbelieveably bad. It opens with a cringe-inducing attempt at rap-metal, goes into a Kylie Minogue rip-off B-grade electronica song and only gets worse from there
I thought Debbie and the band still had it after 17 years apart when No Exit came out, but whatever 'it' was, they somehow lost it in the 5 years it took for this cd to come out

Listening on the full-album listening party right now. It explores new territory while keeping their exuberance. It's kind of like what the new Liz Phair album could have been like if it was great and not just good. Matches the old classics IMO. I advise everyone to buy it. I'm going to as soon as possible. Only one minor complaint about the new one: sometimes Debbie's voice is buried in the production.

You've gotta be kidding.
You could hear Debbie Harry's voice was right on the verge of falling apart on the last album.

the British reviews (and those on Amazon) don't agree with your assessment. I love Deborah Harry--I even bought Debravation, for pete's sake--so I will have to trust that this CD is as good as this: Q Magazine 4 out of 5 stars. Uncut Magazine 5 out of 5 stars. Bang Magazine 4 out of 5. The Sunday Times and The Guardian also wrote extremely positive reviews and so did Time Out London(they didn't give out ratings). (that's from Amazon)
