We don't have to ban words or phrases or fight about the very thing that we're against in freeper-land. This allllll started with bitch-slap.

Do you know/understand/think about why that person (and others) were/might have been offended??? If you do, wonderful! You probably won't use/say it so much anymore BECAUSE OF POLITENESS. If you DON'T understand why they might have been offended - then you really better 'think on it some more!'

We don't have to ban words/phrases - let's just trust ourselves to be polite to others....banishment not needed or wanted here. Sound good? :shrug:

I don't know if you've kinda of been reading all day here...to re-cap someone early today complained about using the phrase 'bitch-slap' - they found if offensive and explained why. Then allllllll thru-out the day, and quite a bit tonight ppl have been saying (sarcastically) we should ban 'blah' - let's ban 'Robb is a dingbat', Should the term 'ding-ding-ding' we have a winner be banned'...etc.

I just think too highly of this group ... there's too much important stuff/thoughts that we collectively have here to be be side-tracked by this stuff. To me, and a lot of others I would bet, don't think it's funny. If you're wrong, admit that you're wrong and move on....don't belabor an error.

THAT was the point I was trying to get at - I don't in any way think that there are a bunch of 'kids' here - not at all!

My sincere apologies to anyone/all I have may have offended with the above-mentioned post referencing 'kids'.

It's been going on for some time. Politeness has been pointedly ignored. Perhaps you should read the 8 different threads about this subject and you'll see that many DUers don't understand why some posters might be offended by the word. They don't have a clue and resent having to censor themselves for something they don't understand.

So it really isn't as easily solved and simplistic as it seems. And by the way... we're not children and you're not our parent, so you might get a better response by not talking to us as if you were. Sound good? :eyes:
