the suggestion was that it was not lightning, but an act of terrorism, and that bush was downplaying it so we wouldn't get scared.

I replied that it was more likely connected to bush and his energy buddies. The responses I got were things like, "What? Did Gray give up and move to the east coast already?"

...domestic terrorism, don't you? And B* isn't downplaying it so we don't get "scared", but so that we'll be more easily manipulated into approving his (corporate) agenda of increased use/exploration of fossil fuels along with decreased/eliminated pollution controls.

If that's what you mean, I agree 100%. This outage was engineered at very high levels, just as the California "energy crisis" was, no doubt about it... and for a purpose.
