| OC 4 Kucinich calls it quits and issues notice of disclaimer of liability |
|
Given what is going on in Orange County, the OC 4 Kucinich Steering Committee's announcement was phrased in a very positive way. It is important to note that the Committee's notice only says good things about Dennis.
The steering committee is clearly concerned about the background and poltical affiliation of someone involved the Southern California campaign and about what is happening with some of the clubs. There was an incident that was the subject of a lot of email earlier this week where one of the Kucinich club chairs seemingly flipped out because some attendee accused the club of being too Republican.
The committee's notice makes it clear that the members still fully support Dennis and want to see him elected President but they do not want to be affiliated with the clubs or to be responsible for the behavior of certain people involved in the campaign.
Subj: Orange County 4 Kucinich Announcements for 12/18/2003: Date: 12/18/2003 16:21:13 Pacific Standard Time Sent from the Internet (Details) -----
The OC 4 Kucinich Steering Committee has been with the Kucinich campaign since it began in Southern California. Through the efforts of the OC 4 Kucinich Steering Committee, the Kucinich campaign in Orange County has grown from a small number of people to a sizable section of Orange County's population. Now those people who have joined the campaign have the opportunity to continue to spread the word about Dennis Kucinich and what a great candidate he is.
Even though the clubs include individuals who learned about the campaign through the work of OC 4 Kucinich, the Southern California Field Coordinator and the Southern California Kucinich Clubs are not part of OC 4 Kucinich. The Coordinator and clubs are not the agents of or authorized to act on behalf of OC 4 Kucinich. OC 4 Kucinich is not responsible or liable in any way for the actions and/or representations of the Southern California Field Coordinator or the Southern California Kucinich Clubs or any of their members. The Democratic Party, the Green Party, the Natural Law Party and the Peace and Freedom Party are also not affiliated with the Southern California Field Coordinator or with the Southern California Kucinich Clubs and are also not responsible for the actions and/or representations of said Coordinator or clubs. This notice is not meant to reflect negatively on the clubs or said Coordinator in any way.
The OC 4 Kucinich Steering Committee has decided to disband OC 4 Kucinich. We hope that all people who receive this announcement will support Dennis Kucinich at election time. If you wish to keep in touch with Kucinich supporters, you may join the Orange County Kucinich discussion group by sending a blank email to KFPOC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. If you wish to receive only announcements, send a blank email to KFPOC-Announce-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
If you are currently part of the canvassing operation, you are encouraged to continue your efforts.
The OC 4 Kucinich Steering Committee would like to thank all those who have assisted with the operations of the Orange County campaign. Let's make next year a winning year for Kucinich and America.

| 2. The people and kids involved in OC 4 K will probably use individual effort |

to further Dennis's campaign. The two kids who are on the steering committee have put out a new book that starts with a poem about Dennis. They are going to be sending it out to their more than one thousand friends around the world on their Christmas list. People who were involved in the campaign are going to continue to talk about Dennis to others.
There is a major concern that lists of names, addresses and phone numbers of Southern California voters and voters elsewhere which are expected to soon be in the possession of someone who could misuse them (if they are not there already) might be used for purposes other than campaign purposes and that this could result in liability for the campaign and anyone working on it. Apparently someone high up on the campaign knows the risk to the general public and doesn't care. I am being careful here not to specify who or what the specific concerns revolve around.
Also certain of the people at the top of the club structure were very disruptive and made it clear that they wanted to see OC 4 Kucinich destroyed. One of the Kucinich Club chairs showed up at a recent meeting and was so nasty and seemingly out of control that one of the kids on the committee started crying and continued to do so for about the last half of the meeting.
OC 4 Kucinich was in a difficult position but the people on the steering committee figured they could better serve Dennis outside of the organization. The trouble was the structure and not Dennis. It is possible that if the members of OC 4 Kucinich had had an opportunity to let Dennis know what was going on, the problems in the campaign might have been handled.

| 3. Why are you posting this on a public board? |
|
This should have been done through your e-mail list and not via a mulit-candidate board for all to see.

want to make sure they are dealing with Democrats or at least liberals when they get involved in a campaign. It looks like some undesirable elements have infiltrated the Southern California campaign. I hope the campaign straightens out this problem before they do any damage. I know you are a strong Kucinich supporter and that you posted this here because the Orange County people felt the problem was serious enough to ask people to post the notice in Democratic groups. I saw similar postings by other Kucinich people elsewhere yesterday.
Every campaign has its problems. This is minor compared to the campaigns that have bad candidates. It might even make the Kucinich campaign stronger in the end.
