National Republican Attack Machine To Be Let Loose on California McAuliffe Calls it Evidence of National Republican Strategy on California Recall
Washington, D.C. - The Democratic National Committee today has learned that the Republican Leadership Council (RLC) plans to air statewide television ads from September 15th to October 7th advocating for the recall of Governor Gray Davis. The last time the RLC was in the national spotlight was during the 2000 presidential campaign when they ran hundreds of thousands of dollars of ads on behalf of George W. Bush. The RLC is a national Republican organization whose board of directors includes numerous advisers and supporters of both President Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
During the 2000 campaign, the RLC made a name for itself by running attack ads against George W. Bush_s primary opponent Steve Forbes and later against Democratic nominee Al Gore. At the time a number of RLC officers had publicly endorsed President Bush and a number were Bush "Pioneers" - a group of top fundraisers who had raised at least $100,000 for his campaign. Republican Steve Forbes called the RLC, "an attack surrogate for the benefit of Governor Bush."
Currently 23 of the RLC_s top officers are or were top Bush fundraisers and according to the RLC_s own website, former California Governor - and current top Schwarzenegger adviser - Pete Wilson is on the RLC's Advisory Board.
"Contrary to what President Bush told us, this is further evidence of White House meddling," said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "The national republican strategy of stealing elections through lawyers, loopholes and lies will backfire. The people of California are entitled to positive ideas from people who want to talk to them about the issues in their state."

| 4. I hate to say it, but Davis doesn't need GOP help. |

Grey had his chance to fix things. But he really hasn't done it. It's time to give someone else a try. I think Arnie is progressive enough to be palatable even to a lot of Democrats. Rupert Murdoch thinks so, and we all know his history of backing Democrats, most notably Hillary.

:wtf:
Do you think Californian's are stupid????
I assume you will be supporting the Recall Bush movement also since he hasn't fixed anything in his 2+ years in DC but has only broken all the good things left by Clinton.
As a Californian living in Sacto and looking out my office window to the Capital building every day, I think you are dead wrong!!! I want to see Arnie in the Capital building like I want to see pResident Bring'emon stick around for a second term.

How could it be worse than it already is? Businesses are flat out leaving California. You can call it greed, but people will put up with stuff only for so long.

| 10. Republicans can always make things worse. |

Besides, why should Americans give up on a U.S. Marine who has fought Bush/Enron in exchange for a hypocritical bodybuilder who was AWOL from the Austrian army and met with Ken Lay during the California energy crisis?

| 11. Texas deficit as bad as California |
|
The California economy is $1.4 billion (trillion+). Texas, &75 billion. California deficit $38 billion, $9 billion attributed to energy fraud, $29 billion after fraud. Texas deficit $12 billion, if Texas economy were California - $24 billion deficit. $5 billion difference. Caliornia has also lost $250 billion in taxable revenues due to the collapse of the tech industry which easily explains that $5 billion plus some. Not to mention the general downturn in the economy altogther. How come 56% of Texans know absolutely nothing about their deficit and only 18% claim to know a great deal?
Where'd those tech jobs that are leaving California go? Alot of them went to India thanks to George W. Bush and his removal of most sanctions against India. Who gains? Coincidentally, George HW Bush who invested huge sums in the Indian tech industry in 2000. Nobody pays attention to that at all, I cannot for the life of me figure out why.
This attack on Gray Davis is so outrageous it's beyond comprehension. This country is turning into a real shithole, sorry to say.

| 13. CA's troubles are so obvious....allow me to inform you |
|
CA is in deep financial trouble because so many illegals are using the states social service resources. Grey has done nothing to stem this treand. People who play by the rules are having to pay for this and they have had enough. I can't believe I have to point out this 'elephant in the living room' to you.

Is this the best this dillwad can come up with? Once again the Democratic Party is nowhere to be found. They're all on August vacation, why aren't they taking turns spending a few days in California talking about this crisis and trying to educate people on the facts?
I am so disgusted with the whole thing. I'm thinking if the US is going to end up a Third World environment, I may as well just go live in one and save myself the heartache of watching this country go down the toilet.
