| Hartford Courant: August 28, 2003 Caucus -- SLEEPLESS BY THE NUMBERS |
|
http://www.ctnow.com/news/politics/hc-caucus0828.artaug28,0,2978037.story?coll=hc-headlines-politicsDean gets good write up and Lieberman continues to look like Daffy Duck.SLEEPLESS BY THE NUMBERS (Dean Campaign) <SNIP> Total Internet contributions during the tour: $1,032,903.94 (you have to wonder about that 94 cents)<SNIP> GOING DOWN (Lieberman Campaign) <SNIP> So much for the perfect campaign photo op. When Joe Lieberman stood before an Exxon pump at a Spartanburg, S.C., gas station Wednesday, the point was to decry the spike in gasoline prices.
Problem is, that morning, owner Junie White had just lowered the price of unleaded regular by 3 cents, to $1.49.9.
That didn't stop the Connecticut Democrat, who drove up in a Mercury Grand Marquis, from telling a bevy of TV cameras and local reporters that "I find it suspicious that prices are jumping so dramatically just before one of the busiest driving weekends of the year."
White said that prices had been going up; it was just coincidence that they went down hours before the Lieberman visit.

| 5. they don't get it re: the 94 cents |
|
... since people who contribute to Dean online are always asked to add some change to the dollar figure to know where the money is coming from (e.g., 18 cents for college students, 26 cents on announcement day, 1 cent for a regular internet contribution).
Also, re: lieberman... arghhhhhhhhhhhh... just go home, please.
