| The "Davis should resign" misconception is still alive |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 11:56 AM by slackmaster
I heard it at the end of a late news broadcast last night on a local (San Diego) TV station. It was one of two viewers' letters that were read without comment. The viewer had the misconception that if (California Governor Gray) Davis resigns now the recall election will magically not happen and Cruz Bustamante will serve out the rest of Davis' term.
Folks, we need to keep up our efforts to get people informed and involved in the recall election.

| 1. Maybe there's some hope... |

Clinton, Gore and others are helping and the poll numbers are moving in the right direction. You're right: need to get people informed about how Enron screwed CA, and Bush pushed them along.

| 3. Didn't papers released reveal that Enron and others WERE price fixing? |

And didn't this directly cost the State of California billions? (something that came out in the course of legal proceedings somewhere, I believe) Isn't this all about how Davis allegedly couldn't balance the books in CA, and "it's all his fault?"
Someone who knows more about this, please post the info/links.
Of course, Enron was up to their tricks there while Bush was saying that it was California's business, and he didn't think the federal gov't needed to be involved. He may have only been president-elect at that point (?). But in any case, he was laying it all on California at a time when others were saying they thought the utilities might be price fixing.
