On the NY Times site, Brooks reports that the GOP wants Dean to win the nomination. They maybe wrong, but it's something to think about.

told a story the other day about working a Dean booth in Iowa, and having a local Repuke come up and repeat the talking points word for word. Yeah, Dean, that's the one we want...maybe I'll contribute (of course he didn't), etc. Of course if that were true, they'd be busting their butts to knock off Kerry, Gephardt, and now maybe Clark, not bragging about it to Dean's supporters faces. They must really be scared of Dean.

WASHINGTON -- Republican Party officials and political advisers to President Bush admit that they underestimated Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean and say they now consider him a formidable potential adversary.

Some Bush allies say he reminds them of another insurgent candidate who once bedeviled Bush: Arizona Sen. John McCain. His wins in Republican primary elections in New Hampshire and Michigan rattled Bush's 2000 campaign.

''There is something going on there, and I tell you, if we don't pay attention . . . we're making a big mistake,'' says Tom Rath, a Republican strategist and Bush adviser in New Hampshire.

7. Dean is Bush's dream come true.

Dean is a really bad debater. He keeps switching his stances. He takes credit for the work of others. His people have worked hard to alienate the rest of the Democratic Party.

What's Kucinich's stance on abortion again? I do believe that you'll find it's different from the one he held last year.

What's Bush's position on anything? I do believe that many times it's different from the ones he held yesterday or in front of a different audience.
