Utility Workers Endorse Kerry

John Kerry picked up another great union endorsement today from the Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO.

Announcing the union's unanimous endorsement, President Donald Wightman said:

"We are giving our early endorsement to John Kerry because he's spent a life time fighting the fights that matter most to us--better health care, workers rights and support for the critical issues related to our national energy infrastructure and security. John Kerry has had the courage to fight for us, while George Bush has put working families at risk. Senate Kerry is the best candidate to beat George Bush and lead this nation--we proudly stand beside him."

Way to go Kerry!

This gives Kerry some interesting lead in when talking about energy policy and the like. Overall, Kerry is a friend to the American worker.

If you think they are the same, you have some serious perception problems. This IS Democratic Underground, and I know you're an independent, but Democrats know the difference between the corporate executives and the laborers.

and Pittsburght, Pa, but I may have some family in Cleveland. I know there is or was a steel mill in Cleveland.

Before you were born the term "Rustbelt" defined the Cleveland area in the late 70s and early 80s. Closed down steelmills.

My late great uncle who also was a WWII vet worked for Bethlehem Steel had he still been living today, he would have had his benefits cut for his military service and lost his pension. I believe Kucinich once said workers rights are human rights, and I say yes to that, thats true. Thanks for the background.
