| Meme alert: "are you for Kerry, or against Bush?" |
|
Most recently, Ted Koppel asked this of Bruce Springsteen, but I've heard it many many times, especially regarding ordinary voters.
Of course, the answer is against Bush, but the question is profoundly dishonest. Our dislike of Bush's policies is based on his REAL record, his REAL administration, the REAL results of his failures.
I think Kerry has the potential to be a great president, I really do, and I'm excited about it. But Kerry's potential, or anyone's, can't compete with the REALITY of Bush, who has actually been in office for over three years, and is making decisions NOW.

| 3. The "correct" answer is BOTH.. |
|
Things need not be "either or".. It's THAT kind of thinking that has gotten us the 5 million tons of ill will from across the globe..
The 21st Century is NOT black/white...good/evil...up/down...
That is "toddler thinking".. red shirt or yellow shirt..
A person past the age of 4 can operate on more than two levels.. You can say to them "Go get dressed", and they can manage it all on their own..
To be against Bush meshes well with being FOR Kerry.. But being against Bush, does NOT mean that a vote for Kerry is a "protest" vote..
