Interesting that the networks sent their heavy weights to cover

the Hurricane. On CBS Sunday Morning it was Dan Rather standing with a wet parka in the wind reporting the story and on NBC Evening News, it was Brian Williams.

1. Indeed. I thought it was extremely suspicious that the

hurricane was on ALL the major channels ALL DAY/weekend with nearly nothing else being broadcast. Not sure what to make of it.

macho! You know, standing up to Mother Nature and all!!!

Lying Machine?
A big possibility...perhaps they were all taking a page from CLEAR CHANNEL ... which was my only connection to the outside world during the time we were being pelted by FRANCES but which gave me a chance to experience what the buying up of the airwaves by corporations can do...the Clear Channel transmission was on on most of the stations that we were able to tune in to. they own the news, they own the voice, they own the flavor and we have no choice on the news we listen to, the voice we listen to, or the flavor of the news or the message that we listen to. CLEAR CHANNEL WIOD kept me sane throughout the Frances experience ... but despite that I vote against the buy up of the airwaves by corporations. Any FREE neighborhood radio station could have done an equally good job of keeping us informed about Frances and her path. Any FREE radio station could have been equally responsible in transmitting the news alert from our County Mayor and Emergency Coordinators. Any FREE radio station could have been equally good in taking calls from worried or anxious citizens who still had phone service and would call the station just as a way of seeking reassurance and connectedness with the outside world!
I VOTE AGAINST THE BUY UP OF THE AIRWAVES BY JUST A HANDFUL OF CORPORATIONS. I VOTE FOR MANY VOICES, MANY VIEWS, MANY INDIVIDUALLY OWNED RADIO STATIONS.
