Time for the February nominees for "The Gucky" Award!

I believe that there should be a new awards show. My suggestion is "The Golden Kneepads" award, to be nicknamed "The Gucky".

This award probably should be awarded monthly to the media outlet which goes above and beyond the call of duty (and sanity) to spin the news in Bush's and/or Republicans' favor.

Unfortunately, Faux News should be exempt as overqualified. I mean, they're on the job 24/7/365.

Extra merit should be included for a news story in which it can be directly shown that the "reporting" media outlet had crucified Bill Clinton or fill-in-the-blank-Democrat/Liberal for a nearly identical offense.

Another award from the Golden Kneepads Academy could be the "Whafu?", or WTF award, presented to a so-called-"liberal" media outlet which actually reports on a story detrimental to George W. Bush or the Republicans.

At the end of the year (of course, in time for sweeps month), the "Swallow of the Year" could be awarded to the "Gucky" recipient deemed most "worthy".

Suggestions for nominees for February?

1. How about the "Bulldog" awards?

4. I think that "Gucky" sounds more disgusting

and might stick better. And "Golden Kneepads" would convey the idea of what the "media" is doing, a la the concept of "getting a Lewinsky".

"Bulldog" award probably would have people thinking that it's some sort of dog show.

3. A whole media outlet?

How about just for a specific story, if we're gonna do it monthly. I think Leslie Blitzer's softball interview of Gannert qualifies nicely. Hey, doesn't Unfiltered send out softballs to people who do this? We could do something similar -- maybe just a cyber-award, a webpage or something.
