An American Guardian?

I contacted the UK Guardian's editors to find out if they are planning to publish an American version, as some here have speculated. This is the answer I received:

The idea of a Guardian US magazine is one of a number of options we are
looking at to build on the phenomenal success of Guardian Unlimited in the
US. This is all at a very early stage and there is much to do before the
idea becomes reality, however keep watching the site where we will update
our American readers with any further news of our plans.
