MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Striking workers at Rolls-Royce Energy System in central Ohio are expected to return to work Tuesday or Wednesday after union members approved a new contract.
Union President Andy Campbell said the contract is acceptable, but not ideal. Workers have been off the job for two weeks.
"We showed them were willing to strike," he said.
Union and company representatives first agreed on the new contract Friday afternoon and met Sunday morning to ratify it. The contract offers hourly raises to workers over the next three years. Workers will receive a 40-cent-per-hour pay increase next year and quarter-per-hour increases the following two years. Workers make around $18 an hour. <snip>
