"Indonesia's Environment Minister says a huge cloud of haze that for several weeks has choked parts of Indonesia and Malaysia - and even spread to Singapore and Thailand - will be around for at least another month.
Indonesia has announced it will charge 10 forestry companies with environmental damage, under laws enacted after the great smog of 1997, but which have done little to prevent the annual illegal burning off of huge tracts of forest land.
Executives of the company charged this week over last year's burn-off face 10 years in jail and fines of tens of thousands of dollars.
Environment Minister Nabiel Makarim admitted there was gap between the regulations and the law enforcement, which was common in his country."
