In fact in its discussion on Alma (The First Tropical Depression in the Pacific off Central America last week) NOAA stated that Tropical Depressions occur in May, on average May every other years, through we had one for each of the last nine years.

Alma died out on May 30th about the same area as Arthur formed, looks like some of the remains of Alma reformed to become a Tropical Depression Arthur.

9. I'm in Belize

Alma/Arthur doesn't seem to want to die out like everyone said it would. It's been 2+ days of 40-50 mph winds, higher and higher seas and rain that ranges from a sprinkle to sheets of rain. If Arthur hits the Gulf it could spell trouble for the US.
