UN Adds Cheetah To List 1 Of CITES Registry

The cheetah, the world's fastest land mammal, is one of 21 species added to a list of those in danger of extinction.

The Egyptian vulture, which is being poisoned by pesticides, and an Asian duck pushed to the brink by its status as a culinary delicacy in the region, were also considered at risk by an international UN wildlife conference in Rome.

The animals are now on List 1 of endangered species held by the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.
