No animals found dead in Sri Lanka

They say it's because animals have a "sixth sense". Personally, I believe in evolution and that we all descended from animals so, we should still have the same foresight. However, we have strayed too far from nature and have been building our castles in the sand.

Sorry, but I don't know who Fred Phelps is. I don't think there's much reason for celbrating anything, but I do think the story is a reminder of how nature, animals, and humans are all connected.

About Fred Phelps, the lunatic from Westboro Baptist Church, who runs the godhatesfags website, was praising god yesterday, because the tsunami killed 2,000 Swedes. Today he had a flyer on his website, praising god for killing 3,000 Americans on 9-11.

So, we're lucky no animals were killed, otherwise this loon would be praising god again!

I've posted before about the strange incident outside our home here in Portland. It was a gloomy winter. I was just sitting at my table with a cup of tea, looking out the window.

It was raining, about 11:30 in the morning. Suddenly, to my surprise I see a raccoon running down our quiet street. The raccoon is galloping down the street. I stood up and followed it down the street. I scratched my head and wondered what on earth that was about. That was the first time I'd ever seen one in broad daylight.

Raccoons are nocturnal animals. They come out at night.

The next day, we had a huge flood in Portland (the 1996 flood). The Willamette River overflowed its banks. We went down to the river to see houses, boat docks and tons of debris floating down the river.

A more likely explanation is that there were indeed animals found dead but people have bigger problems on their minds right now.

Another explanation is that the national park in question doesn't have as many animals as claimed. It is open to doubt whether there were any leopards left there to begin with.

9. I'll never forget this.

Years ago, I was parked on this lonely back road(in Alameda County) eating my lunch, this group of cows I was watching suddenly scattered like something really spooked them. Suuddenly, about five seconds after they scattered, a 5.5 earthquake came rolling through the area. So, they really do have some kind of sixth sense.

13. URBAN LEGEND IN THE EARTH QUAKE COUNTRY

Out here between the San Andreas Fault and the Calaveras-Hayward Fault, the generally accepted folk legend or urban legend is that animals can "sense something."

We run about one earthquake every 15-18 months that actually shakes things on the shelves. Out of these quakes-

<*>Our beagle and our Maine Coon Cat missed every one of them.
<*>Our Siamese mix was fidgety and agitated before every 'quake - and he had about a 50% batting average. (He predicted two 'quakes for each one that happened).
<*>Our chaotic neurotic cat was also agitated and fidgety before every 'quake - but she predicted ten 'quakes for every 'quake that actually occurred.

And,

Our veterinarian, the Animal Shelter's PR person, and the Battalion Chief at our local Fire Station all say that some/many dogs and cats seem to sense something.

But, just as many people say that is pure junk science.

14. not a lot of animals live right near crowded coastlines, except birds

some dogs too, generally, but they swim better than most humans. if they're looking in the same places where people died, they won't find many animals, because the animals had already been driven off.
