Poachers kill (all) protected tigers: official

A FEDERAL probe into disappearing tigers in a state-protected reserve has found the entire population of big cats has been wiped out by poachers, a minister announced today.
"The special investigation team in its preliminary assessment report has indicated that there was no evidence to prove the presence of tigers in Sariska (national park)," junior Forest Minister Namo Narain Meena said.

"The entire population seemed to have become extinct primarily because of poaching," Mr Meena told parliament's upper house.

The reserve covers 800sq km in Rajasthan state and has blue bulls, spotted deer, boar, and above all, 15 tigers, according to a census in June 2004.

Your application of a laudable human philosophy/morality is absurd and ignorant.

First of all, humans are naturally omnivores, not herbivores. Any study of history, anthropology or the natural history of our nearest anthropoid relations will confirm this.

Have you no respect for Nature as it is? Is 3+ billion years of evolution to be swept away so that your sensibilities will not be offended? How incredibly selfish.

You may not like the observations of Malthus but their truth is undeniable. Without checks species will breed to starvation. Predation is one of those checks. But you would eliminate millions of predatory animals(and plants too I guess!)leaving all of your grass eating buddies to die of starvation. Good plan!

Are you projecting your fear of pain and death upon the world? I suggest you learn to accept life as it is and concentrate your concerns on the affairs of humankind where they are more applicable and certainly more needed.

While often illegal they are often sold in bars, eaten raw. While in Baja recently I came across a T-shirt with a cartoon turtle brandishing a pill bottle. The caption in Spanish said essentially "Now you've got this stuff, you don't need my eggs anymore." Had to buy one, so encouraging.
