More than 650 corporations -- including Starbucks, DuPont and the US Air Force -- purchase 7.2 billion kilowatt-hours of renewable energy annually, an increase of nearly 240 percent since the end of 2004, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The growing role of corporate leaders will be highlighted at the Renewable Energy Marketing Conference in San Francisco, December 3-6, at which business executives, climate change policymakers, and renewable energy providers will explore the future of the exploding industry and the EPA will publicly recognize leading companies for their renewable energy purchases.
According to research released by Clean Edge in March, 2006, global clean energy markets for wind and solar alone are estimated to grow to nearly $100 billion by 2015.
