It is up to the US whether or not the 25-year-old Taiwan Relations Act should be revised, Minister of Foreign Affairs Eugene Chien (???) said yesterday.
"The act, which will turn 25 on April 10, is a domestic law of the US and we, the people of Taiwan, are in no position to comment on anything about US law, " Chien said during a meeting at the Legislative Yuan Foreign Affairs Committee.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will respect any decision that the US administration or Congress make should the US decide to revise the act after they reach a consensus on the matter, Chien said.
