A woman offers prayers at the Pao-An Temple during the first week of the lunar calendar's ``ghost month'' yesterday in Taipei. In Chinese tradition, the seventh month in the Chinese lunar calendar is called the ghost month, in which ghosts and spirits are believed to come out from the afterlife to visit Earth. Activities include preparing ritualistic offerings to please the visiting ghosts and spirits as well as the deities and ancestors.
