ALGIERS - In a new war of words over the Western Sahara, Algeria has accused Morocco of losing all credibility in the affair over the disputed region, annexed by Rabat nearly three decades ago.
Abdallah Baali, Algeria's ambassador to the UN, was responding to comments by his Moroccan counterpart at the United Nations, who accused Algiers of "blocking" a political solution to the Western Sahara, press reports said Sunday.
Algeria is "responsible for blocking the process of finding a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara," Mohamed Bennouna told a UN commission on Friday, according to the official Moroccan MAP agency.
"By dint of abandoning promises and equivocating, Morocco has today lost all its credibility" on Western Sahara, Baali said, in comments reported by Algerian media.
