| 3. Yes, the whole thing was a perfectly engineered setup. |
|
They took no chances at all. The scenario played out exactly as they intended it to.

| 4. Yeah, designed for failure... |
|
1) Grab a bunch of young college age kids.
2) Give them a full sized Glock, a firearm they are unfamiliar with.
3) Have them use a thumb break holster which is unnecessary for concealed carry and takes a LOT of practice to use.
4) Put the holster on a thin dress belt rather than a belt designed for carrying a weapon.
5) Have them conceal it under a heavy shirt.
6) Have them wear gloves.
7) Let the attacker be a trained firearms instructor who knows exactly where they are sitting.
8) Take the best student shooter and make sure he has no chance by having another student shoot at him. (I don't believe this have ever happened before, but may happen in the future. Thanks to 20/20.
No surprise that they failed.
*****
However the episode was worth watching in that:
1) It pointed out that proper equipment is essential.
2) First, go for cover.
3) Stress can wreck havoc on motor skills and perception. Very valuable info on tunnel vision.
4) Video games and airsoft pistols really don't prepare you for real life shooting situations.
Nor did it point out that had the shooter left the first classroom and continued to another, an armed individual in that class room would have had a much better chance to take him out.
20/20 also failed to mention that people with concealed weapons have stopped mass killings.

"Some of them with lots of experience." With airsoft pistols, yeah right. Let's be fair and throw a few of the combat vets from Iraq that are walking around college campuses nowdays. Lots not tell the "perps" who in the classroom is armed either.

Exactly, I would love to see a situation where the "perp" dosen't know which of the 20 kids in the class is armed. Totally different outcome.

Unless you are totally hopped up on something, even a graze wound will stop you momentarily which might shock the perp enough to allow follow up shots. The officer/perp knew that there was no real danger and expected that people would be shooting back. What actual perp expects people to be armed and fire back? They all go to schools or malls where they know that people can't be armed.

| 8. No one knows for sure how they will react in a situation like this.... |
|
...But I will continue to carry a concealed handgun in case I am ever unfortunately put in a position where I might have need to use it.
Many potential life-threatening altercations are thwarted without a shot even being fired. These stories are not told by the news media. Only the tragedies are reported.
I would rather have a fighting chance if I, or someone else near me was attacked, than to be a completely helpless victim. This show was extremely biased with an anti-gun slant. How ridiculous!

| 9. Yeah that was a setup - I'd have loved to have seen them |
|
Put some combat vets in that room. Or some USPSA or IDPA shooters with the production/carry gear they use. Or some citizens who have gone to a shooting school like Gunsite, Front Sight, Thunder Ranch or another of numerous regional shooting schools.
And of course not let the police instructors know who is armed.

yes they were set up to fail. it also didnt make sense to me because for the most part you aren't allowed to carry in a classroom even in college and if they were allowed to what about people in other class's who would of heard the shots and have advanced warning? Also if your discussing a topic like that you should really examine it from all angles and not just present your own view. Can someone please explain to me what they meant about the CDC estimateing another 60000 kids getting shot this or next year? are they talking about the center of disease control? because if they are since when do they comment about gun deaths or accidents

| 11. That entire episode... |
|
Was a pile of garbage.
The sad part is people who aren't 'gun-savvy' are going to watch it and become convinced they can't protect themselves.
Not to mention the over all message 20/20 gave was "You might as well lay down and die because neither you, cops, or anyone else can stop a loon with a gun."
Fucking trash.
