There was something grimly routine about yesterday's suicide bombing in Netanya, where the city's emergency services have had to deal with more than 20 similar incidents during the intifada.
The proximity to the West Bank, just 20 minutes away by car, and a large population of transient Palestinian workers have conspired to make Netanya bloodier than any other city in Israel except Jerusalem.

"The moment I heard the blast I knew what it was," he said. "It shook the building I was in and when I looked out of the window all I could see were bodies lying near the entrance to the mall."
So routine are blasts in Netanya that the pregnant policewoman who raised the alarm after spotting something suspicious about yesterday's bomber had already been directly caught up in six suicide bombings.
