Mofaz: Israel is Upset about Breaches at Rafah Border Crossing
GAZA, Palestine, March 27, 2006 (IPC+Agencies) - Israeli radio said that the Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz voiced Israel's concern and upset at the security measures adopted by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in the Rafah border crossing south of the Gaza Strip.
According the Israeli radio, Mofaz asked the American Administration, during a phone call with the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, to increase the international observers to monitor what he called " Palestinian breaches" at the crossing which, according to him, Israel cannot and will not keep silent, pointing out that the Israeli security forces are highly concerned about developments in the Rafah border crossing.
The radio said that Mofaz told Rice that there are "terrorists" moving from and to the Gaza Strip which is a clear infringement to the signed agreement according to him.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources pointed out earlier that the Israeli security forces disclosed information about re-controlling the Rafah border crossing by dismissing international observers in order to prevent what they called Palestinian activists from getting in and out of the Gaza Strip.
