Defense Minister Amir Peretz said about an hour before the strike that Israel's policy of restraint, adopted after the IDF was blamed for the deaths of seven Palestinian civilians on a Gaza beach on Friday, had come to an end.
"We employed the necessary restraint in light of the international storm, but it's over. No consideration will replace our duty to protect the citizens of Israel," Peretz said while observing an IDF drill in the north.
