Qassam hits Ashkelon, damaging several buildings

A Qassam rocket fired from Gaza struck Ashkelon on Monday morning, causing damage to several buildings in the southern port city. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

The rocket strike came hours after a Qassam landed just inside Israeli territory, near the northern Gaza Strip border fence. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Israel Defense Forces troops operating in the West Bank overnight arrested a wanted Islamic Jihad activist in Bethlehem, site of major Christmas observances, as well as four Fatah fugitives in Ramallah, Israel Radio reported Monday.

On Sunday evening, a Qassam struck near a nursery school in the western Negev town of Sderot, bringing to four the number of rockets fired at Israel on Sunday.

1. ceasefire....

i believe that puts the number of kassams at over 50 since the cease fire went into affect.... and 2 mortar shells

this reminds me somewhat of the situation when israel left gaza over a year ago..then too the kassams flew....the "apologists" for the jihadnikim said, well there was no negotiation so what should israel expect...

well another fiction shot down...this time there was negotiation....and still the kassams fly.

any one here willing to put forth a suggestion to israel. There was one that ventured that instead of israel retaliating... israel should evacuate the areas under attack...all 200,000 people+....

fatah has taken reponsability....the "moderate" group. I believe fatah is part of the 15,000 troops deployed to "stop the kassams".....

2. Have to wonder how much longer the IDF will check fire

MIL send me an article that talked about how the IDF was wanting to strike back and being restrained by Omert. However, since its from WND, I won't quote it.

Have to think the combination of a high altittude UAV as a spotter coupled with a low yield LGB used a few times may "help" the Fatah troops stop the launches.

3. Olmert and Peretz are stopping the IDF...

UAVs are used constanly over gaza (they stopped during this last "cease fire"-dont know if they flying again).....the problem is the short setup time for the launches and the cynical use of kids.

it doesnt take more than a few minutes to set up and launch a kassam-they are in a hurry..retrival of the launchers are done by kids (depending where the launch site is)...who are paid for it. So a late strike would end up killing the kids.....(this bit of info was in the hebrew press last friday-mariv for those who are inerested)
