Gaza militants fire rocket into Israel after two-week lull

Palestinian militants fired a Qassam rocket into the western Negev on Wednesday, ending a 2-week lull in cross-border rocket fire.

The rocket exploded in the Eshkol region, causing neither casualties nor property damage.

The last rocket attacks launched by Gaza militants took place on April 1, when three Qassam rockets were fired from the Strip.

3. Israel closes crossings for Passover -again

GAZA, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel on Wednesday closed down three key commercial crossings on its borders with the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip for the security of the Jewish holiday of Pesah, a Gaza official in charge of crossings said.

Raed Fatouh, the Palestinian coordinator to operate crossings with Israel, told reporters that he was informed that Israel had closed the three commercial crossings for one day due to the Jewish holiday of Pesah.

The three crossings, Nahal Oz depot, Kerem Shalom and Karni, will reopen for fuels, cocking gas and food supplies on Thursday, and more than 80 different kinds of products are still banned, said Fatouh.

Fattouh said 131 trucks entered Gaza through Kerem Shalom. Three of these trucks were loaded with humanitarian aid for the UN refugee relief agency UNRWA and other international organizations. Some 116 truckloads for the commercial-private sector were also allowed in loaded with shampoo, washing powder, cleaning liquids, soap, flour, sugar, pasta, toilet paper and cooking oil, Fattouh said. Another 12 truckloads of fruit went to the agricultural private sector.

Cooking gas and diesel fuel for the Gaza power plant were allowed through the Nahal Oz crossing.
