SIDON: The Lebanese Armed Forces arrested Tuesday in the southern coastal city of Sidon's suburb of Haret Saida a man suspected of dealing with Israel. LAF sources told The Daily Star that units for the military intelligence arrested a man named Mojahed Awad, who is a member of a cell suspected of dealing with the Israeli Mossad.
The sources added that Awad, 61, had been previously arrested for five years between 2003 and 2008 on charges of spying for Israel.
Meanwhile, Lebanon is considering filing an official complaint to the United Nations over Israeli espionage activities in the country after the discovery of several groups accused of spying for Israel in recent months.
Media reports said that authorities may hand over the results of investigations into the alleged spy networks to the UN as further evidence of Israeli breaches of Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the summer 2006 war.
