Israel's operation in Gaza following Sunday’s double suicide bombing at Ashdod’s Port began shortly after it was approved in an inner-cabinet session. Two operatives of the Islamic Jihad’s military wing were killed after Israeli Air Force helicopter gunships struck Gaza on Tuesday evening. One of the terrorists killed was identified as Mohammed el-Haroubi. Hamas vowed to carry out "extremely violent" attacks in response to the IAF strike.
The IDF issued a statement this evening confirming the Gaza attack. “Helicopters struck a building in the northern Gaza Strip that housed activity of the Islamic Jihad. The operatives are responsible for a number of attacks on Israeli targets,” the statement read.
According to Palestinian sources, 14 people were injured in the IAF’s strike including two children. Three were critically injured. One of the wounded said the choppers fired four missiles at an abandoned building in the neighborhood of el-Mashtal in Gaza, which was used by Islamic Jihad as a hiding place.
