Security forces two weeks ago thwarted a Hamas plan in which the group attempted to infiltrate six suicide bombers into Israel in order to carry out simultaneous attacks around the country, Israel Defense Forces intelligence chief Major General Aharon Ze'evi-Farkash told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday.
Ze'evi-Farkash said the six terrorists were arrested at the Karni Crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The military intelligence chief said the incident illustrates the efforts being made by terror organizations, particularly Hamas, to carry out attacks on Israelis. Ze'evi-Farkash said their motivation is high but their operational abilities, however, are low due to ongoing IDF anti-terror operations.
