A laptop computer containing sensitive information on undercover police operatives stolen three days ago from the home of a psychologist serving as an officer at the police intelligence department turned up in the Palestinian territories.
The Shin Bet internal security service paid thousands of shekels to the Palestinian thieves for the return of the computer. Them individuals who stole the computer were not arrested, Army Radio reported.
The computer is believed to have been taken by unsuspecting burglars who had no knowledge of the sensitive data it contained.
The Shin Bet imposed a gag order on the affair and has launched an extensive investigation, fearing that the exposure of the information could endanger the lives of police agents.
