"An Israeli women was killed and another was lightly wounded Friday morning when four mortar shells were fired at the Neveh Dekalim settlement, part of the Gush Katif bloc in the southern Gaza Strip.

One of the shells struck a home on the settlement, seriously wounding the woman who later died of her injuries. The second woman sustained light wounds, Magen David Adom personnel said.

The house hit by the mortars also sustained heavy damage.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the shelling. This is the first time that any of the frequent mortar attacks on Gaza settlements has been fatal."
