2) ISRAEL - TO BLAME FOR IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROGRAM?

While Power cites an Israeli 'threat' as the motivation for Iran's nuclear program, in fact Israeli leaders had never challenged Tehran before that program advanced, nor did Israel ever contribute to an armed attack on Iran.

By contrast, the Iranian Mullahs have been clamoring for Israel's demise since the day they seized power in 1979. Witness the Iranians' more recent calls for the extermination of 'the Zionist Entity':

�œ Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenai explained in Jan. 2001 that 'the foundation of the Islamic regime is opposition to Israel, and the perpetual subject of Iran is the elimination of Israel from the region.'

�œ Khamenai said in a recent sermon that 'the cancerous tumor called Israel must be uprooted from the region.'

�œ In Dec. 2001, former Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani called the establishment of the Jewish state 'the worst event in history,' and declared his intention to decimate Israel, clarifying that 'one bomb is enough to destroy all Israel,' and that 'in due time, the Islamic world will have a military nuclear device.'

Unfortunately, it's not just talk. Iran actively supports anti-Israel terror through Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah. And recall that in January 2002, Iran attempted to smuggle 50 tons of ammunition to Palestinians aboard the ship Karin A. Iran's nuclear program is clearly an extension of that aggression.

cause it aint israel that has signed TWO peace treaties with Egypt
and Jordan AND has twice come to the aid of Turkey after 2 devastating
earthquakes.


And lets not forget that israel is pretty much the only country in the ME that muslims have the right to vote AND have a higher level of prosperity than most other countries in the area. ( i quess oil money counts, huh?)

sources don? there's a different one each time - love it when people bang on about anti-israeli bias in the media when Israeli casualties are reported 3 to 1 (despite Palestinian dying more than Israeli's 3 to 1) and the fact that EVERY single suicide bombing makes the news in the west but news about each incursion into Palestine and killing of Palestinians has to be weeded out of the independent press.

And, Don. That source is a stinky one that I hope no-one with a right mind believes is in any way credible. Hell, Jerusalem Post looks like a highly liberal and reputable source compared to that cess-pool. Tell you what. Get some articles on Iran that's not from some ranting, frothing at the mouth twits, post them in LBN or the FA forum, and you'll get plenty of folk voicing their opposition to the Iranian regime. Give it a try. You may even like it! There's a wide, wide world of DU outside of this forum :)
