Typically, one group of cops will tell you one thing; another group of cops will tell you the opposite.

The article alluded to that. First they were told to go into the street. Then other cops said they'd be arrested for being in the street.

This was not 'their' protest. There was a clear reason for the police to be there. You have opposing groups on each side of a street. All it takes is one nut on either side (or both) to start a BIG problem.

The police SHOULD be there to keep the peace. If, at any point, they believe that things are getting out of hand, they SHOULD attempt to disperse both groups or at least maintain some control of the situation if possible.

Now, dispersing one group and not the other? I don't agree with that. But, then again, I was not there to see what really happened.

And as for "the cops came in and beat the kid", the woman herself said she was pushed after being told by the officer to move. She said nothing about her child being touched at all.

Don't try to incite people through flat out lies. Then you are just as bad as the people you criticize.

I hold * responsible for the effect, more than I do his supporters. He sets the tone and it goes from the top-down. He would rather put people in harm's way than to tolerate his detractors.

I often wonder if the "staged" rallies are to make him look good in videos and photos as agitprop, or is even more about protecting his fragile, frightened ego from being bruised? It's split to me.

If she was that concerned for her child's safety, perhaps she should have moved when asked. Considering that she didn't, she placed her child in a potentially dangerous situation. It would probably have been an even BETTER decision NOT to bring the child to a protest to begin with. Maybe we should recommend her to Good Housekeeping for "Mother of the Year".
