Attend a Democratic Party Meetup Tonight
You have a crucial opportunity tonight to help our campaign to elect Governor Dean as the next Chairman of the DNC. Democratic Party Meetups are taking place in coffee shops, restaurants, and local libraries across the country. These Meetups are an incredible way to continue the discussion with other Democrats about why Gov. Dean is the right leader for our party. Please find a Meetup near you are at:

You can also help the campaign by participating in your local Democratic Party meetings (click for tools that will help you find the nearest meeting) scheduled for January. Local Democratic organizations are the building blocks for a stronger party and they play a crucial role in determining our party's leadership.

Finally, you can help the campaign by writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper in support of Gov. Dean. Please do not write letters directly to DNC members. Letters to DNC members who you don't know personally are not the most effective way to help Governor Dean's campaign.

though I'm not too keen on sacrificing Dean to a fund-raising role. Very clever how so many are supporting him for this just to get him out of the way, but I will support him because he's willing to do it.

Of the group presenting himself, he's miles better than the rest of them.

i've never seen so many clarkies so enthused about dean before! lol!

their sets are on '08 and they see dean as clark's biggest threat -- i don't blame them.

perhaps he'll get the chair position, quit 2 years early and run in '08?

he's about the only person i'd vote for at this point.

12. WRONG

As a Clarkie I can speak not only for myself but for the others who are supporting Dean: it has absolutely nothing to do with '08. Most of the Clark supporters who back Dean for this are longtime Democrats and to the left. We know that if the party doesn't get it's act together we are toast no matter who runs.

Edit: I'll also say that Clarkies aren't ascared of any other candidate, for the record.

7. I'm confused about that part as well...

I have a friend who is an at-large Member of the DNC, and she seemed to think it was a good idea to write personal letters to DNC members, although she suggested limiting the letters to the members from your own state. She also didn't seem to think that letters to the editor would be particularly effective, since the universe of people who will vote is so small (about 440). So I'm not sure what the deal is with this new "guidance" from Tom Hughes.

In any case, I know a lot of people have already sent letters. Also, at least one of the other candidates (Donnie Fowler) is encouraging his supporters to write letters to DNC members.

8. I wrote to those in my own state

I know that Dean told someone that writing outside your state would be a bad idea, but didn't he encourage writing your own state members?

9. They may be leery of overkill.

DFA alone has over 700,000 members. Add that to the new numbers of people supporting Dean for the DNC position, and that's a recipe for some serious overkill.

Getting people involved in Democracy meetups, however, would be a very good thing and would encourage a coming together of all Dems.

11. Ok, my take on this is:

They don't want overkill. BUT...if you want to write a couple or so of the ones who vote HQ can't stop you. Right?

Now, I know that our Florida group is not fond of Dean...the more conservative part of the party is firmly entrenched here. So I only wrote a couple.

I think we should at least write the ones in our state.

In other words...it is better for HQ to say not to do it, and then we do as we wish within reason.
