| Government needs to control big oil? |
|
I think when it comes to products that people cannot live without government needs to have some control over the prices.Gasoline, natural gas, fuel oil.We cannot make usual consumer decisions on these products, and they have a large effect on the economy especially jobs.I don't see how we can trust a handful of greedy corporate thieves with our countries lively hood.

| 2. But here's the deal: The big corporations and the government ARE THE SAME! |
|
This is the plan. If it's not the King, it's the Church. If it's not the Church, it's the Big Corporations. The nice thing is, they make us like it by giving us the consumer crap we so desire.

| 5. And each of these estates has been been corporatized: |
|
The RW church, the "investor class," the lobby-ruled legislature, and the MSM and cable "news." It's a done deal.

| 3. I think a better way would be a government research project for |
|
alternatives. An "Apollo Project" on energy (that term is almost getting cliche). If the government and the people truly got behind it, prices for oil would lower as far as the market could bare. That's what happened in the early '80's (Saudis swamped the market) and destroyed backing alternative energy research funding - and young George Bush's dream of oil wealth.
Only this time, they'd have to commit to it long term no matter what the oil companies do.

A Manhattan project for alternative fuel source, but until then some limits on greed should be in place.WE do need to keep beating the alternative fuel source drum consistently.

|
Now that corporations control the government, well there is nothing really to stop them now.

| 10. I disagree. The government DOES need to regulate, but not actually |
|
control the industry.
Look at the BMV.
Do you really want to stand at the front of the line for a half hour just to get a gallon of gas?

Even if it was nationalized, prices still would be high for fuel do to high demand and short supply. What is a better proposal is to create a seperate national energy company that produce alternative fuels on a moderate scale, just to get balance out prices. That way you would have price control, that would help the economy because of the increased competition.

Until then, something must be done.Just the fact that you have no choice in the matter makes it ripe for fraud.

| 17. Yes, let's analyze this. Oil companies are having record profits |
|
on record revenues.
So, substract those profits from revenues and you have some idea of the price at which oil could be sold by a nationalized oil company. It probably would be significantly lower.
