sleazeball "Congressman for all Alaska."
"Late in the evening on August 22, Diane Benson, the newly nominated Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, contacted Don Young’s campaign to invite Rep. Young to debate and participate in three town hall style meetings in Anchorage, Juneau and Fairbanks prior to the November election. Rep. Young flatly refused the invitation, saying that he would be following his "tradition" of only participating in the KAKM debate.
Why is Don Young hiding from the people whom he supposedly represents? Why is he so reluctant to debate Diane Benson and to answer questions from the ordinary Alaskan citizens who are, after all, his employers? As his employers, we have the right and, indeed, the obligation to review Mr. Young’s job performance, to question him on his positions, and to compare his qualifications side by side with those of his Democratic challenger.
I urge my fellow Alaskans, of whatever political persuasion, to contact Rep. Young and urge him to reconsider his refusal to debate. Only then will we be able to make an informed decision - rather than one based on habit - when we go to the polls in November to select the "congressperson for all Alaska."
