the GOP was asserting the will of God, and would act in accordance with their Biblical prophesies as emphasized by their leaders, who were also put in place to ensure political dominance.
Went into full swing in the 70s and spread like wildfire in the 80s and 90s. Especially since Clinton's indiscretions were spun into a great sin that played a useful role in their overall storyline.

| 4. I can tell you, here in N. GA, based upon inside Dem polls, Shrub, |
|
our Pub Rep Nathan Deal, and both our Pub Senators are polling at 98% approval! Now,I live about 45 miles north of Atlanta, and there are LOTS of Baptists, and lots of hispanic Catholics who work in thee chicken plants. They adore Shrub for bring "their faith" into Gov't. If you mention the problems that have occurred during his terms, they blame it on "all the other people in Wash". If you question him refusing to get authorization from FISA to tap your phone, they say "His AG told him it was OK!"
I've given up on saying anything at all.

Same problems here. In fact, Cherokee County is 100% Republican.

I just spoke to our Dem team leader lst night. She's the one who told me about the internal Dem polls. The entire State of Ga.Dems have to depend on Atlanta to help us out!
I was shocked to see that the Pubsactually rejected Reed in the primaries! Happy, but shocked!

...our party hasn't won an election years and years.
There is a 49 state strategy as far as I'm concerned.
But, there is hope.
At the polling place where I work the ratio of Republicans to Democrats is usually 4 to 1.
In the primary the ratio was 3 to 1.

lack of information, abundance of mis-information, prejudice, security in one's self-image and belief system, rat-race fatigue, powerlessness. The different stratas of our society have completely different impressions on what matters...and they are played the tune to which they dance.

Just yesterday I had a conversation with a friend that is a republican. He asked if I was taking November 8th off to celebrate or mope about the election. After I said celebrate we got into a discussion of all the latest scandals. Actually I was doing all the discussing he was just dumbfounded. He had not heard about very many of them. I talked about the powers that the president now has with the new Military Commissions act of 2006 and he had no idea and did not believe that it would be used against Americans after I explained it to him. He is completely absorbed in his work and home life and pays very little attention to politics. But he thinks that the president and his party are good and that all is well with the country.

typical. They basically blame all of the country's problems on minorities and see Democrats as the party of the people they despise. They are also thoroughly brainwashed by rw radio to think Dems want to tax them to death, kill their unborn babies, and force them into same-sex marriages. It's all ignorance and stupidity.
