For those people who are concerned about the Democratic candidates ripping each other up during the primaries I have a few questions.
Don't we want to know their weaknesses?
Don't we want to know how they respond to attacks?
Do we really think that if WE don't mention it the Republicans will never ever think of using the fact that Bill Clinton's presidency was not exactly er without its embarrassments or that Barack Obama is, well, black?
I personally want to see if a leading candidate can take the heat and fire back all the while looking like a hero in a white hat? Can he or she play in the dirt without getting covered in mud? Most importantly does he or she know how to respond to a smear? No more swift boats for me, thank you.
So let the games begin. Right now it's the battle hardened veteran of a thousand baseless smears against the golden boy. We know that the Clintons know how to play dirty--that's one of the good things going for Hillary--but can she take it and look like a hero in the process. I want to see how Barack Obama deals with the shitstorm--because what Hillary or Edwards or Biden or Richardson or anyone else will throw at him is nothing compared to what Karl Rove and company will dream up. Let's throw some dirt at Edwards too and Richardson and Vilsack and all the rest.
We're looking for a fighting dog here--not a lap dog.

If a candidate can't respond to the likes of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or Karl Rove for that matter, how are the American people to believe that this person is going to be able to deal with Osama Bin Laden, Kim Jung Il and whichever terrorist or tin horn dictator with nuclear ambitions is going to make our lives misreble for the next eight years.
Right now the Republicans are falling in love with the ultimate tough guy, Rudy Giuliani. I don't know if that's going to last, but whoever the Democrats nominate had better be able to both give and take a punch--and look damn good doing it.
