| What the heck is Bloomberg up to, anyway? |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-30-07 07:25 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Bloomberg has taken pains to keep the 'Bloomberg independent run' srory-line alive for a year now.
Best I can figure is that knows he has the power to buy the presidency... not for himself, but he can dictate the winner of the race. He can jump in any time with any platform. He can chose to run as a liberal or as a moderate republican, and then outspend the other two candidates combined to steer the race.
Having the power to pick the winner, I suppose it intrigues him. Billionaires must run out of things to want. (Does he hate Rudy? I don't know. Maybe he's making sure he can keep Rudy out of the WH. They say he doesn't like Hillary. It's a unique political puzzle.)

No one should have so much money that there is nothing left to buy but his government.

| 2. Keepin his powder dry in case of a huckleberry nomination |
|
The GOP corporate moneymen are scared shitless that huck might get nominated. A Bloomberg candidacy is a plan B to split the repub votes particularly if Hillary is the Dem candidate because they'd actually prefer her to Huck.

| 4. He met with Obama this morning. How do you know it had ANYTHING to do with his own ambitions? |
|
Maybe he was advising Obama about campaigning in NY or something. Or maybe it WAS about him running as Obama's VP on the Dem. ticket!

| 5. It's not about Obama, particularly. The Bloomberg/Hagel rumors are being stirred up again, which is |
|
more what I'm thinking about. (Someone had a post about Carl Berstein talking about Bloomberg/Hegal on CNN)

| 9. Maybe he's really not interested in running as an Independent |
|
and that was made VERY clear with HIS decision to have that public meeting with Obama-a DEM. candidate.

| 7. Bloomberg could run as late as Sept 08 as an IND, with a win in 3or4 states force it into the HOUSE |
