Obama, The Race Card, and The General Election

Even though I support Hillary and Edwards... It is starting to look clear that Obama has a very good chance of winning this election. Contrary to who I plan to vote for... I think Obama is an outstanding guy and will make a great president. I plan to work hard for him if he wins the nomination and be proud of he later wins the White House.

That being said, I look at what the republicans did to Kerry and fear that they would TRY and use the same kind of swift-boating, and evil tactics on Obama. I am afraid that they will try and play the race card. (lets keep the controversy over Hillary out of this for right now).

Do you think they will do this? I hope not

If they do... what is the best game plan for us?

Should be just ignore it and let it roll off our backs

Should OBAMA ignore it but his supporters point it out

Or (the one I favor) Obama stand up and call them out on their BS on the spot and end it all right there. Because if they KNOW he will call them on it they might be afraid to say it. Think, no one wants to be called racist. I think that was the problem with Kerry. Kerry wouldn't call them on their BS so they had nothing to fear. Do you think that Obama will have the guts to call them out on this and show them that he is not going to take any of their lies without a fight?

How is that stirring up trouble? WTF? I can't ask any question that me and my mother were just discussing without it being a call to stir up trouble? I am one of the people on here CONSTANTLY telling people from both sides to be nice to both candidates. Hell I spent half of the post above praising Obama and saying that I hope he becomes president if he gets the nomination and that he has a very good chance of getting the nomination and doing that. HOW is that stirring up trouble? HOW?

I think some of you people are so filled with rage at those that support others you will read confrontation into ANYTHING.

Overall, I like Sharpton, and wish he didn't have the skeletons in the closet he does, because I think he could make an excellent elected official. But too many people can't forget Tawana Brawley, Rev. Sharpton's other scandals (real and press-inspired).

I don't know about Al Sharpton, BUT he could employ a very good name to do the defense for him. That would allow him to stay above the fray, and keep from causing distraction from his own campaign. I do think he needs to call out anyone who tries it. Honestly though, I don't think that McCain would try it. He seems like a nice person. I could see Romney making a deal out of it, but Obama can out talk Romney and make him look weak if he tried it during a debate.
