| We Dems AGAIN risk losing an election that we "can't lose". |
|
Every minute we spend fighting over:
Race Gender Age "Experience" Elect-ability BJs Spouses And other Narrowly construed statements
....is a minute we do not spend explaining to the American people why there MUST be a DEM in the White house in 09.
We each have our "preferred" candidate. But we better start to find things we like about our alternatives and be prepared to fight passionately regardless of which Dem wins our primaries.
Unless you think President Huckabee, Romney, McCain, or Guiliani has a nice ring to it.
And before you whine about the need to debate "specific issues" ... those are perfectly FINE to debate. You think your candidate has a better health care plan ... defend it.
But the BS topics above are just that ... BS ... and we better be ready to unite ... because the crazy right wing will.

| 2. Yeah, but we'll have about April through November to talk about why there must be a Dem. |
|
There's not a lot of time left in the primaries, but we'll have the whole general election cycle to discuss exactly what you want to talk about. I'm not too worried ... yet ...

I'd like to worry more now(and try not to be self-fulfilling) and pump up optimisitcally later. In my life experience the worries have won out more than the optimism. What cheers me up is that so much of that was due to fraud. What gets me down is that none of our professional pols is doing much to even face the concept.
The self-fulfilling part. If Clinton or Obama are in fact forced to really rip apart the mandate to secure the nomination we will have played into phase one of the GOP grand scheme very nicely, but then that has started with the enforced blindness of the whole party campaign.

and here we have a better analysis of the problems we face. That is that that in the many polls neither Obama nor Hill have a chance at beating the pug front runner.

to support the other candidate if their candidates doesn't become the nominee. Some pretty vicious things have been said by them against the candidate they are opposing.
These remarks may come home to bite them on the ass.

| 8. It would help if that old bus wasn't getting so much use... |
|
we have the Clinton campaign throwing blacks under the bus and the Obama campaign throwing LGBTs under the bus. If these things continue we're going to have an apathetic democratic electorate come November which won't do anyone any good.
While I think it's really important to have a democrat in office in 2009, frankly, I can't blame anyone who feels used and abused and decides to sit out the election or not vote for the democratic candidate to send a message that they can't be thrown under the bus and then be expected to come back and vote for them in November because they have "no where else to go." It's like battered spouse syndrome.

I didn't realize how MEAN the Clintons are until they started bashing Obama. Geesh! They'll do anything to win? Is that it? All the RACE-BAITING is disgusting! SHAME on THEM! That's stuff FAUX News would do, isn't it?

| 15. There is still time to be divided |
|
After a front runner is chosen is the time to come together as one voice. Right now we must look to who really has a chance of beating the pugs hands down and in a landslide that cannot be flipped or otherwise cheated out of us. This is an election we cannot lose for the sake of lofty ideals and history making. Pragmatism is what is called for at this time in our history if democracy is to be saved.

This place has become so toxic that unless you HATE some of our candidates its nearly impossible to be here. After the last several days of browsing, and finding nary a post worth replying to, I was thinking the exact same thing to myself this morning. We are going to lose AGAIN. In a year that Dems should win handily. But... at least on DU, there are far more haters than people who see the big picture. The snarkiness, insults, and jackassery NEVER stop in GD-P these days.
I'm almost to the point where I wonder 'why bother'. Thats so sad.

on edit: GD-P not GD:P - what the hell?
