Libertarians? Slippery slope of censorship

Libertarians generally vote Republican. I think there is an opening
to grab some of that vote if someone like Moveon.org (not Kerry
directly) appeals to the Libertarian's fear of government
intervention in their private lives.

Libertarian#1: Did you hear that George Bush closed down one of the
new newspapers in Iraq? Do think that is censorship or a good thing
for democracy?

Libertarian#2: I think it's great, I don't care about those *****ing
arabs

Libertarian#1: What do you think about them going after Howard Stern?

Libertarian#2: Well, I like to watch the babes but let's face it,
Howard is a long-haired, pinko, freak-show so maybe he *****ing
deserves it.

Libertarian#1: Well, I'm glad you're cool with all that. It looks
like Bush and some of the Republicans are now finally ready to start
to control things a bit more on Cable TV too, so they can tame some
of violence and language used in shows like the Sopranos

Libertarian#2: WHAT??? Are they *****ing crazy. Those @!%$* NeoCon
SOBs better not mess with MY shows. How the **** did this happen?

...and he was very against the war. They tend to be more isolationist.

3. V-Chip?

I think between Tipper and the V-Chip, libertarians are a little weary of the Democratic party and censorship.

You would be better pushing the fact that they are paying taxes for the Iraq war.

Or Kerry could make a stand against the "War on Drugs"

4. "Libertarians generally vote Republican"...Nonsense!!

Every Libertarian I know LOATHES the GOP. They hate Bush...hate his war...hate his domestic agenda (anti gay, blurring seperation of church and state, mandatory minimums for potheads, etc). They hate the patriot act and practically everything the GOP has done on the spending side of the equation. Libertarians vote Libertarian. They hate neocons, and neocons hate them. Rep Ron Paul made a speech on the congress floor a while back and was blasted by his collegues. He is actually a Libertarian who ran on the GOP ticket to get elected. He sits on no committees and is treated like an outcast by the GOP leadership...He is a major thorn in the side of the pubs, and their hate for him shows he is truly doing something right. I find myself agreeing more and more with the LP lately, and hope they continue to grow.

5. Social liberals should unite for this election!

One thing that Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, and moderates can all agree on: We don't want any more Scalias added to the Supreme Court! The best way to keep that from happening is to vote the religious right out of office. The way to do that is to vote for John Kerry!

7. Alot of Libertarians also vote Green party....

...particularly in 2000. This was a way to pump up a third party's numbers. I suspect many will vote for a strong third party again this round. No way, they'll vote for Kerry...he supported the IWR, and most Libertarians were against the war.

I have a very strong libertarian streak, but I'm no Republican...

I can very easily see libertarians voting against Bush, in particular because of his religiousity (yes, that's a word, LOL), and actually, believe it or not, because of the war.

One of the nuts of the FCC Commission pushing for the new BS policy including expanding to cable is a Democrat :-(
