Kerry seeks common front with Bush, AFP

WASHINGTON: US Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has sought to present a common front with President George W. Bush on terrorism and the Middle East, but was rebuffed as someone lacking credentials to lead the nation in trying times.

The conciliatory remarks came on Friday as opinion polls showed the Massachusetts senator was badly trailing the president on the war on terror, Iraq and other foreign policy issues shaping up as possibly defining elements of the current election campaign.

"We share the same goal of total victory," Kerry declared, addressing an annual convention of the Newspaper Association of America. "And you can count on this: No matter who wins the presidential election, the terrorists will lose."

He insisted he had differences with Bush on some of the strategies his administration was using in trying to hunt down members of the al-Qaeda terror network and other Islamic extremists seeking to harm the US and its allies.

If Kerry is going to support and continue Bush's policies, then people are going to conclude that there is very little reason to vote for him when the original is running. The fact is that we want, no, we NEED to get Bush OUT in November. What we don't need is to replace Bush with a copy of Bush.

hope for. I used to think India exotic, interesting, intriguing. My view of India has changed since then for the worst. This issue has done a lot of direct harm to my family.

Corporations who outsource are the lowest of the low and the politicians who support that policy will never get my vote.

BTW, blame the American shareholders of the corporations that outsource.

If you really want to make a change, call for the repeal of NAFTA. More jobs have been lost because of NAFTA than through outsourcing.
