But I wouldn't anyway, at least not at this stage. DU would be boring if it were just Obama supporters. If Hillary gets the nomination and you guys get so obnoxious gloating that you make me not want to vote for her in November, I might have to learn how to use ignore.

African American that dreamed up this story. This will not make AA turn against Obama. I'm positive about that. I'm AA and have talked to many friends and family members lately. NONE of them are upset with Obama over this. My mom even said his pastor needs to get in the background and shut up! LOL It was not so much of what the pastor said but how she thought whites might respond to it. TRY AGAIN Clintons (I'm sure they pushed this behind the scenes..it is their type of thing)! LOL

Listen to various black commentators and bloggers on this. This rhetoric is not unusual for black churches. Heck Donna Brazile called it rather tame.
Do you think even the GOP is going to start pushing a massive NATIONAL campaign declaring all black people and their churches as racists and traitors?

I am amazed that you can't see this. Of course they will not do a full frontal racist attack. It will be a constant drip drip drip on the qualities I listed. And I don;t think McCain and the GOP care a hoot if they alienate a majority of black people and those who see through them It is not "us" - the typical DUer- that they will be appealing to.
Of course this Wright flap is a tempest in a teapot. But it will lose the election for Obama.

The rethugs use Horton as well as an attack on Dukakis' patriotism (which they will do with Obama too using the photo smear, radical Muslim smear, and the lapel pin grenade Obama foolishly handed them) in 1988, they impeached Clinton, they stole an election in 2000, and they swiftboated Kerry. Anyone who thinks they are going to play nice in 2008 is fooling themselves.

Holy crap its going to be open season on closet skeletons.
Obama's 'inexperience' may actually be an advantage in that case, because he hasn't had time to cultivate the litany of shady deals the Clintons have.
Everything from Whitewater to Dubai will be back on the menu. The call for tax returns will be tame in comparison. And it will all fall on a public ear that is already Clinton fatigued from Lewinsky. Its the last thing the general public want to go through again.
Find another angle, this one is a loser for you.

Really - your ageist and discriminatory assumptions are offensive. Who do you think led the civil rights movement? People who are now under 30? there is something so dismissive in your tone and attitude that is quite disgusting. Unity indeed. "Our time"? Whose time is that?
This is why many people see the Obama campaign as divisive and destructive to the party. Obama cannot win with only people like you.
You are in cloud cuckoo land. Max Cleland was destroyed just a few ago. this Wright flap is NOT abbout race per se but will be framed as being about patriotism, trustworthiness, "American values" honesty, c in c worthiness and etc. Most of it total crap. but this Wright flap will be exploited mercilessly and if you don't think so then you are foolish and naive indeed.
"the times they are a changin' " - indeed - as always. Now, who wrote that song when, again?

the words were racist ... there is no arguing that point but it was the high-5's, the slaps of approval on the back and the general applauding by the entire congregation that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. IMHO, there is little doubt that Rev Wright and his congregation have shown they hate white people.
If it is ever shown that BO was in attendance during one of these hate-fests, it's over for him.
That's why the super D's will have to think long and hard about whether the republicans do or do not have the incriminating video of BO in attendance, dancing and applauding along with the others. A video they can spring on BO after he is nominated, and for all practical purposes, end his run right there on the spot. Possibly even forcing him to drop out. This is a gamble that can make or break the dems taking the white house.
My guess is they will play it safe and switch to HC.

This ain't the 1950s any more. There are many many rich black people in control of this country also nowadays. Had he stuck with the haves and the have nots, he could have made a great sermon out of it. Instead, he used it to tarnish ALL white people as if we are a monolithic race that has no good people. That is simply not the case. Many many white people would love, just as much many in the AA community, to see the wounds and injustices of racism righted. The way Wright went about his sermon was rather divisive.
I think you'd be surprised at just how many white people truly care and want to see justice and equal opportunity based on the person's qualifications and not their skin color. We shouldn't ALL be lumped into one giant cluster fuck though, because we are not ALL racists. A lot more of us poor dumb white people are poor and powerless too. We can do far more good as a team than we can on our own.
