| Rumors of Clinton Supporters' Demise Greatly Exaggerated (warning: creepy) |
|
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 03:00 PM by FlyingSquirrel
The "boycott" of DU by some Clinton supporters made me wonder what has actually become of Clinton supporters on DU since things started getting dicey for her. In late December I had compiled an incomplete list of DU'ers and the candidate they were currently supporting, for purposes of attempting to get a true look at the percentage of support for each candidate here at DU. By request of mods, this list was not disseminated to any third party.
At that time, I had a list of 978. 110 of those were Clinton supporters (11.2%). (I am no longer updating the list)
Today I went back through those names to see where they stand today.
91 were still here and posting in support of HRC (82.7%) 8 had moved to Obama (7.3%) 6 were no longer posting in GDP (5.5%) 5 had left in search of tombstone pizza (4.5%)
Interesting stuff huh?
-----
Edit: Just to clarify, "Still here and posting" means they've posted in GDP within the past month in support of Clinton. Not necessarily since the boycott began.

| 1. Very interesting - that was a great idea, though likely a lot of work! |
|
Are you going to look at where the supporters of the other went?

Now that's funny.
(I'm sure you really have some people on that list other than Clinton supporters, right?)

| 8. Much like their threats to vote McCain in November... |
|
Empty threats.
The campaign is gasping it's last. Desperation has set in. But fear not... they'll all be back, folks. Both at DU and in the voting booths in November.
Once their collective delusions have worn off and they're free of their candidates disorienting spin - they'll fall in line.

| 9. I don't know how many of them threatened that (probably not many) |
|
but saying "they'll fall in line" probably doesn't help.

| 10. Those were Bill's words, not mine. |

Bill Clinton coined the phrase: In the primary you fall in love. In the general you fall in line.
... just to clarify.

| 17. You're welcome.. I think that most Clinton supporters are in it for the long haul |
|
just like Edwards supporters, Biden supporters etc.
I think the reason they're so outnumbered now (well, they were before) is because so many new people came in who support Obama. Just a guess.

| 14. So how many are in the 'boycott'? |
|
That would be the interesting number. Plus we have to have names otherwise it just isn't fun. :-)

| 16. Oh, no... I got into deep doo-doo with naming names before. |
|
I think there's really only a handful boycotting, but I really don't care who they are.
