Clarks albatross: A Clinton endorsement?

So, if the "big su-prize" that Clark is hinting at is a Clinton endorsement (silly us, Clinton said he won't endorse anyone before the primaries....?) or at the very least, a buddy buddy "this is mah boy" photo op, of what real value is it to Wesley Clark?

According to some, not much. To others, it could down right hurt him.

Was it several years ago that we read about Al Gore coming across for Howard Dean? My, how time does fly — quickly — when you’re having holiday.

There are those who claim the Democrats just love Clinton. Well, not all do — that is, the thinking ones with morals don’t cling to his ankles. And for those, a Clinton / Clark clutch just won’t do anything worthy for the ballot box come November.

Furthermore, for those astute in historical data, the Clinton / Clark duo doesn’t ring true. Clinton, Democratic President. Clark, registered Republican until recently, that is, when he entered the Democratic presidential run in September.

Liz Sidoti, AP writer, quotes Stephanie Cutter, Kerry spokeswomen: "’He shouldn't be able to wipe away that record with one photo op of him (Clark) and Clinton.’"

Attention: My opinion on this article is that Mr. Swank underestimates the number of democrats who still very much like Bill Clinton. What he has right is that there are enough democrats who were turned off by the Clinton affair that this will not turn into the vote-getting event that either Clark or Clinton thinks it will.

The good news, though, is all of them are so lame, they make Clark look great. If the worst thing they can argue about Clark is that he voted Republican 15 years ago, and that the most popular Democrat in the country might endorse him, then we're in pretty good shape.

Clark, unlike some candidates, doesn't put his foot in his mouth every other day, so they're forced to dig up obscure stuff like this. It's a positive sign for Clark.

There were several threads about the "big surpise" next week but the endorsement of anyone as the "big surprise" was ruled out because the campaign said that it had to do with an "idea". An idea can't be an endorsement.

A Clinton endorsement would be a big plus for the General. Many of us still love, respect and admire the former president and have argued for his endorsement of General Clark. An early endorsement of Clark would help him immensely in the primaries and will be largely a no-op by election time. (What role Clinton might play in the general election can be decided later ---- I am wholeheartedly for a large one.)

Moreover, say whatever you like, Bill knew how to win elections, unlike say --- Al Gore.

Still I don't think that an (open) early endorsement is likely. Either way, sleep a little less well tonight, repuglicans, the General is coming.

One, you post an article that says Clark was a registered repuke. That's not true. I can't imagine why you think a Clinton endorsement is bad for anyone. Just ask Gore now if he wanted more help from Bill. He turned it down at the time.
