No offense at all to any of the VP candidates, but it seems like it has been running for a year or more. Plus, the system that they use just sucks... and don't even get me started on the candidates you can nominate for the next week... :eyes:
CNN's veepstakes was much better, IMHO.

Even though it was brackets, I thought it WAS head-to-head. And in the end it was Edwards and Clark head-to-head, right? How come that sucked? Me confused.

meaning there wasn't an option for the person with the most votes to move to the front, only out of their bracket. Bracket grouping makes no sense whatsoever, unless you play Little League.

...and he is extremely popular here, and often does campaign appearances on behalf of the few statewide dems we have. Loved watching him stump with Clinton in 1992--lots of fun.
He is currently stumping for some of the dem congressional candidates, and for Eric Fingerhut (senate candidate). Seriously doubt he would even consider leaving retirement to be anyone's VP, and I do believe him to be too 'vintage' to be seriously considered.

On-line poll. "Unscientific." So why the interest? Those don't mean anything, right? Except for the ones you win.
When I saw it last, Clark was about 34%, Edwards about 32%, and Gephardt and McCain in single digits, and some others just blips on the screen.

http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/politics/main250.shtmlI don't mind listing it and as far as I can tell you can vote in it as many times as you wish. Many you just have to log into your browser fresh, but I know I voted more then once in it. And it is not supprising that Clark is winning Internet polls. What would be suprising would be if Clark wasn't winning Internet Polls.

How kewl is that?! Go Wes! Does MSNBC still announce the winner of their Veepstakes? I've never seen them talk about it. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't say who the winner is...since it's Wes, I'm use to him being ignored. If it was Edwards, MSNBC would probably do a Documentary on how Edwards came to win their Veepstakes for 6 weeks in a row and air the friggin' thing every night of the week. :grr:
WTG Wes! :bounce: You're a winner and we Clarkies KNOW it!

43% of Democrats support John Edwards for VP, not Wes Clark. How well organized a candidates internet supporters are is not even correlated to how the general public feels. Just ask Howard Dean.
As an analogy, image we held polls by stopping people on the street at a specific location, and telling them they can go find as many people who share their view to come vote, too. That's an internet poll for you. Just that it happens online instead of in real life.

And it's polls, not poll.
Internet polling tends to be an unusual phenomenon that bears little relationship to the what the general populace thinks. I suppose it has to do with the relative affluence and education of internet denizens, particularly the ones interested in political stuff, and that they tend to lean left-but-liberterian-ish-ness.
Doesn't matter anyway. Kerry doesn't care about polls, scientific or otherwise. His aides and confidants have said that repeatedly, and from his actions, it appears to be very true. Polls will have NO bearing at all on his VP choice. And really, they shouldn't.

Is because so many media commentaters prefer not to mention Clark at all as a potentially popular VP pick. He is, maybe not the most popular, but certainly in the mix, and this tends to help underscore that point.

...and yes, I am talking the 'scientific' polls. Kerry doesn't care about them anyway--they are media driven, and he knows that.
The function of the MSNBC poll is that it mentions all the contenders every week on air--it is good for PR, no matter who the top contender is that particular week. Adn it is good for Kerry as he gets yet another check mark in the number of times his name is mentioned on TV, so there is so validity in participating and enjoying the 'fun' of these polls.

|
BUT, since Clark was on this morning earlier, I had turned it on and haven't changed the channel. I'm not really fond of CNN either, so don't care enough to go find the remote.
Anyway, MSNBC announced the VP results, showed Clark's picture first, and said he'd been there for six straight weeks. Then they showed each of the others, in order. And then one shot of all four to be voted into this week's poll. Not much time or discussion to any of them. Then a shot of the Veepstakes website, which showed Clark on top of course. So it wasn't much, but it got his name and picture on air.
A little later, don't know if it was the next item or not since I wasn't paying close attention, they discussed who would be a good VP. This might be what you saw. Like I said, I wasn't really listening, but I didn't hear Clark mentioned (or I would have started listening, of course ;) ). What I did hear, at the VERY end, were the remarks Kerry had made during the primaries, about Edwards not being out of diapers, and not being qualified to be president. So they did seem to be hedging their predictions that Edwards will be VP.
